Engaging Tech Savvy NGOs & SIs

We will be actively engaging the following NGOs and Social Innovators to share ideas, best-practices and dissemination ideas.

(1) Tech Soup
TechSoup Canada is the Canadian partner of TechSoup Global. Many nonprofits and social benefit organizations worldwide serve the needs of low-income, underserved populations and create positive social change. We believe these organizations could have even greater impact through the appropriate use of technology. This requires assistance with obtaining, using, and sustaining technology.

(2) CanadaHelps/MyCharity Connects
MyCharityConnects – the CanadaHelps' online resource centre for charities – a website dedicated to connecting charities to the technologies they need to succeed. Whether you're a fundraiser, involved in marketing & communications, the volunteer coordinator, the website guru, or a combination of any of the above, this site aims to be a one-stop-shop for learning all you need to about what we like to call Philanthropy 2.0.

(3) TakingITGlobal
TiG enables a collaborative learning community which provides youth with access to global opportunities, cross-cultural connections and meaningful participation in decision-making. TIG offers global online social network and hub for civic participation; content & tools for educators to facilitate rich, interactive learning experiences; outreach & collaboration tools for events, networks, campaigns, and causes; research, development, and sharing of best practices on youth engagement; and facilitated learning experiences through workshops, webinars, and e-courses

(4) Social Actions
Social Actions is an open source database of actions people can take on any issue. The actions in our database are aggregated from across the social web and include everything from volunteer opportunities to micro credit loans.

We encourage social tech programmers to develop web applications that intelligently distribute the actions in our database across the websites, social networks, and mobile phones that millions of people use every day. The overarching goal of our work is to make the web more action-oriented, or in other words, to make it easier for people to make a difference.

(5) Social Venture Partners Vancouver
BC Social Venture Partners (BC SVP) is a network for senior business leaders who care about their communities. BC SVP seeks to catalyze significant, long-term positive social change two ways. First by encouraging individuals to be well informed, effective and engaged philanthropists. Secondly by investing time, expertise and money in innovative not-for-profit organizations while helping to strengthen them in the process. We take an innovative approach to philanthropy, leveraging our dollars, networks, and professional skills to support our Grantees. We have found that this "time plus money" approach helps our Grantees increase their capacity to deliver positive social impact.

(6) Engineers Without Borders
EWB strives to drive change in Canada and in developing communities. Here at home, EWB is raising awareness among Canadians about the impact of their daily actions on developing communities. We aim to make Canada a model global citizen in the fight against poverty.
Overseas, we help build knowledge and capacity among local entrepreneurs and organisations so they can spread innovative and appropriate solutions to the challenges of poverty.

(7) NetSquared
At NetSquared, we recognize that mandate and believe the social Web is key to making change. NetSquared works toward this goal by mobilizing individuals and communities, providing Web-based tools, and awarding financial support to leverage social action projects.
